Chad President is one of the top athletes in the class of 2015, and the Texan prospect is gaining major interest from top-level FBS programs.
Chad President scouting report: Quarterback or wide receiver?
The former wide receiver made the move to quarterback as a junior.
President attends Temple (Texas) Temple High School, and is a multi-positional athlete. ESPN and Scout project him to play quarterback at the next level, while 247Sports lists him as a wide receiver and Rivals considers him a general athlete. President is listed at 6’3 and weighs in at 190 pounds.
He is a consensus four-star recruit, receiving the designation from each of the four major recruiting services. Rivals is highest on him, ranking him as the eighth-best athlete in the nation. The 247Sports Composite, which aggregates the ratings of all four major recruiting services, considers him a four-star, ranking him as the 15th-best wide receiver in the nation and 22nd-best player in the state of Texas.
President lists offers from Baylor, Texas and Texas Tech.
After excelling as a wide receiver as a sophomore and breaking onto the recruiting scene, President made the move to quarterback for his junior season.
His 247Sports profile reports only 60 attempts on the season, with four touchdowns and two interceptions, but those numbers seem rather low. And, unfortunately, his Hudl highlights are set on private.

On some throws, President looks like the raw prospect that he is, throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown and sailing a swing pass over the head of his receiver. In those moments, it’s evident that he has a long way to go to contribute in college at that position.
At other times, President looks like a legitimate quarterback prospect, throwing an out route to the far side of the field, sticking a deep slant route right on his receiver, and showing his strength to overcome a face mask penalty to find a receiver in the flat under heavy pressure.
So in terms of the physical skills necessary, President has them, but needs to continue to refine his mechanics and become more consistent.
As a runner, President can flash the ability that made him such a dangerous target at wide receiver, with good speed for his size and some ability to make defenders miss in the open field. And at 6’3, he can also break some tackles with his strength.
Locked into his Baylor commitment, the development ability of head coach Art Briles at that position bodes well for President, but he could probably contribute more quickly as a wide receiver. Still, if things don’t work out at quarterback, he has a chance to be a difference-maker catching passer instead of throwing them, as he’s an high-level deep threat with excellent ball skills and ability to make plays after the catch.
