Darrell Taylor on recruiting, top schools, Columbus NFTC

Four-star defensive end Darrell Taylor discusses his top schools and upcoming visits at the 2014 Columbus Nike Football Training Camp.

Darrell Taylor, a 6’4, 220-pound weakside defensive end from Virginia, was in attendance for the Columbus Nike Football Training Camp on Sunday and spoke with SB Nation’s Bud Elliott about the top schools recruiting him and some of the upcoming visits Taylor has planned after his visit to Ohio State on Saturday.

The four-star is ranked as the 13th-best defensive end in the country in addition to his ranking as the 10th-best prospect overall from Virginia, according to the 247Sports Composite. Taylor holds offers from Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, amongst others. When asked about who’s sticking out as the favorites in his recruitment right now, Taylor lists Florida, Miami, Tennessee, Ohio State and Virginia Tech.

"Florida's been my favorite school since I was little, you know, when Tim Tebow played. I liked them even more, so they stand out to me a lot," he said.

Last season, Taylor was a monster on the football field, accounting for 54 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, an impressive 10 sacks, an interception and four forced fumbles.

With summer visit/camp season starting up, Taylor plans to visit Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida and Miami. As far as making a decision goes, Taylor hopes to have one made sometime before his upcoming football season so that he can focus on his high school team without distraction. Even still, Taylor says he plans on taking his full allotment of official visits during his senior year and mentioned he will want to make a more “final” decision after the end of his senior season.
