Mike Weber talks top schools, Columbus Nike Camp

The four-star Cass Tech product speaks about where he’s hoping to improve, what’s next for him, as well as when he’ll announce his college decision.

Four-star Detroit Cass Tech running back Mike Weber spoke with SB Nation’s Bud Elliott Sunday about some of the top teams he’s considering as well as what’s in store for him this summer.

“It’s a good opportunity. To come out here and compete with the best players in the state, the country,” Weber told SB Nation about the 2014 Columbus Nike Football Training Camp.

In terms of what he’s been working on of late, Weber has been looking to make strides in both his blocking ability and how well he jukes. The former could lead to earlier playing time wherever he ultimately decides to play his college ball.

Regarding where that might be, Weber identified Purdue and Kentucky as the two latest programs to offer him on a list of offers that now goes to 11.

Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan and Wisconsin were four of the 11 offers Weber has that he said are standing out to him.

As far as what’s next, Weber hopes to get down south this summer to check out some of the southern schools that have offered him. While the majority of schools that have extended offers to him this point are in the Midwest, Weber made it clear that geography and proximity to home wouldn’t be factors in his decision.

Though Weber was supposed to take an unofficial visit to Ohio State this weekend, a late development postponed his arrival in Columbus, forcing him to delay the visit for another time.

OSU and the other programs recruiting Weber will find out where he’s headed at next January’s 2015 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, where he plans to formally announce his college decision.
