COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- After a strong showing at Texas State 7-on-7 last year, Houston (Texas) Lamar running back Tyreik Gray was at a new school this year, but was equally dangerous catching passes.

SB Nation Recruiting caught up with the talented ball carrier in College Station last week.

A consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 16 running back nationally, Gray said he has not yet narrowed down his list, but plans to do that during his upcoming senior season.

There are, however, three official visits already planned for the fall -- Kansas, Louisville, and Oklahoma, the schools that would seem to represent the top choices for Gray right now in his recruitment even though he wasn’t willing to name any favorites.

The Cardinals have not yet offered, but the 5’11, 197-pounder does hold offers from the Sooners and Jayhawks.

Gray likes the offense, defense, and coaching staff at Oklahoma, but hasn’t yet had a chance to visit Norman.

Meanwhile, the offense Bobby Petrino is installing at Louisville is appealing to the Lamar back because it’s similar to the high school offense he plays in.

The official visits to Louisville and Kansas will be Gray’s first to those schools as well.

Playing in a spread offense is something that appeals to Gray and his talents are well-suited for such an attack, especially because of his pass-catching ability.

Right now, Gray doesn’t have any plans for any other official visits, but he has been in contact with the coaching staffs from Alabama and Oregon. He has interest in both schools, and both schools said that they will be evaluating him this fall, at which point the respective coaches for the two highly successful programs will make determinations about offers for Gray.

The No. 25 player in the state of Texas plans on making a National Signing Day decision.
