5-star Greg Little chose Ole Miss over Bama thanks in part to Hugh Freeze’s spirituality

Why did Greg Little pick Ole Miss over Alabama? He tells SB Nation and explains how Ole Miss is landing these top recruits.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Ole Miss made waves in early December when it landed Greg Little, a five-star offensive tackle recruit from Allen (Texas) who some believe is the top overall player in the country. At 6'5½ and 318 pounds, Little moves like someone who weighs 30 pounds less and can eventually play closer to 330. He holds offers from every major program in college football.

I caught up with Little at the Under Armour All-America Game practices to ask him about a number of topics, including how solid his commitment is to Ole Miss and who he might try to bring with him to help the Rebels secure the top overall recruiting class in the country.

Little also explained how Ole Miss, a team that has zero titles of any kind in his lifetime (or the lifetime of his mom, for that matter) is beating out powers like Alabama and LSU for elite players and pulling stars out of Texas who might normally go to Texas or A&M. His answer was unique and enlightening, especially the part about Hugh Freeze being able to help him with his religion in a way that other coaches cannot.

He also discussed what he needs to do in order to come in and start, replacing either Fahn Cooper or Laremy Tunsil, who are off to the NFL.

Little also told me after the interview that he is completely committed to Ole Miss and will not visit Oklahoma, despite rumors to the contrary.
