Four-star defensive end Arden Key committed to LSU on Monday, as the Tigers beat out South Carolina and Auburn for his commitment. The Lithonia (Ga.) Hapeville Charter star has twice committed (and decommitted) from South Carolina, but LSU won his final commitment.
4-star DE Arden Key commits to LSU over South Carolina, Auburn
The talented pass rusher will be a Tiger.
Key originally committed to the Gamecocks all the way back in June 2013, but decommitted fairly quickly after in September. He re-committed to South Carolina in June, 2014, but decommitted again on Jan. 6 of this year, less than a month from Signing Day. He visited LSU on Jan. 16, and positive reports from that weekend have made many consider the Tigers to be the favorites, but Auburn was also in the running, along with South Carolina, who hoped that the third time would be the charm. Alas, it didn’t work out for the Gamecocks.
At 6’5, 230 pounds, Key is long and athletic. He’s a consensus four-star recruit, and is considered by all four major recruiting services to be among the top 15 weak-side defensive end prospects in the 2015 class. 247 ranks him as high as third in the nation at that position.
