Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage School wide receiver Brandon Johnson is the son of former two-time All-Star catcher Charles Johnson, but may blaze his own trail in college. The three-star prospect holds offers from Clemson, Miami, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Tennessee, among others, and talked to SB Nation about his recruiting process.
Brandon Johnson talks recruitment by Miami, LSU, Tennessee
Will the “home team” pull for Miami be enough to grab the local wide receiver recruit?
Johnson is ranked the No. 80 wide receiver recruit in the country and the No. 68 player in Florida by the 247Sports Composite. He said he talks to Miami, Tennessee and LSU the most. The Hurricanes were his favorite team growing up, and there’s a family connection for the recruit.
“Both my parents went there, my grandma went there,” he said. “It’s always just been like a thing, kind of the home team.”
The wide receiver said he’s not close to a decision yet, however. He’s planning to take all of his visits (with upcoming trips scheduled to Knoxville and Baton Rouge) and will commit later in the recruiting process.
