Brian Burns was at The Opening’s Miami camp, and after winning the defensive lineman MVP award, he became the first defensive lineman to be awarded a spot at Nike’s The Opening national camp in Oregon.
2016 recruit Brian Burns talks Florida State, Georgia recruiting
He has good relationships with coaches at Florida State and Georgia.
Coming in at 6’5, 207 pounds, Burns had a good day in Miami, and to no surprise, he’s hearing from a number of top schools, including Florida State, South Carolina, LSU and Georgia. He plans to visit South Carolina, Clemson, FSU and LSU, but really “everywhere.” Right now, he has no favorite.
Burns said he has the best relationship with Florida State linebackers coach Bill Miller and a Georgia linebackers coach.
“As soon as I first met him, he was genuine,” Burns said of Miller. “I could already tell, I could get like a vibe how genuine he is. He was real about everything he said.”
Georgia is intriguing to Burns because he was told that he would be able to play as a freshman. “That really caught my attention,” he said.
A three-star recruit from Fort Lauderdale, Burns was rated as the 55th best weakside defensive end prospect in the country and the 106th best player in Florida for the class of 2016 by the 247Sports Composite ratings.
