4-star linebacker Rahshaun Smith likes Clemson, Alabama

Clemson is recruiting him the hardest.

Four-star defensive end/linebacker Rahshaun Smith will be playing high school football at IMG Academy this year, and he has a number of top-flight college teams after him, including Clemson, Alabama, Florida State and Miami. All four see him as a linebacker.

Of those schools, he spent a lot of time raving about his experience at Clemson.

“I’ve been to Clemson three times,” he said. “The camp, it blew my mind -- the facilities. If you’ve never been to Clemson and you hear Clemson, you think Clemson, they’re good at football. That’s what I thought. When I went to campus, it blew my mind away, everything about it. It was definitely a great feeling.”

Smith said he has a great relationship with Tigers defensive defensive coordinator Brent Venables and head coach Dabo Swinney, along with the rest of the staff.

“I don’t have a leader, but they’re recruiting me the hardest and they’ve done the best job so far,” he said.”

However, that doesn’t mean Clemson can ease up, as Smith also said he has a great relationship with the Alabama coaching staff. He has no visits planned, but Clemson, Alabama and Pitt are trying to get him on campus.

Smith is rated as the 61st best player in the class of 2016, the sixth best weakside defensive end and the 11th best player in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite ratings. He hopes to commit before senior year because he’s graduating in December, but he’s not glued to that timetable.
