Lil’Jordan Humphrey got his name because of Michael Jordan — his mom allowed it as a compromise when his brother asked to name him after Michael — but he’s a lot closer to the height of No. 23 than he is to being “little,” especially for his position at running back. Standing at 6’4, Humphrey is being recruited by many schools as an athlete because his stature would be so atypical among running backs.

He also has the chance to play basketball in college, if he wants.

However, that hasn’t held the Southlake, Texas, native back in recruiting, as he has picked up offers from Texas, Ole Miss and Washington, among others. Right now, he’s not sure what he’s going to be in college.
“(Schools are) really recruiting me as an athlete,” he said. “They’re talking about, I guess receiver, tight end maybe.”
Humphrey has only ever played running back, but he has run receiver routes in practices and says he feels comfortable there, though “my instincts, I just know what to do” at running back.
While Humphrey was surprised when Ole Miss became his first offer, and while he was appreciative of the Texas offer, given the school’s tradition and academics — “I was excited when I got (the offer),” he said — he was particularly excited about his Washington offer.
“Washington was big for me,” he said. “Washington was always a school that I’ve seen as a good football school.”
Humphrey is hoping to hear more from Stanford and UCLA, despite growing up a UNC fan, and he could be getting more offers soon from Baylor and Oklahoma, where he has recently visited. He also holds an offer from South Dakota for basketball, but expects to play football in college.
Humphrey is a three-star recruit, according to the 247 Sports composite ratings, and he’s rated as the 509th best player overall in the class of 2016 and the 70th best player in Texas.
