SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The U.S. Army All-American Bowl was played on Saturday afternoon from San Antonio, Texas, featuring some of the top high school recruits from across the country. Although many of the players were already committed, some announced their commitments to schools live during the game itself.
Here are all the prospects that committed during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl
There were several who made their verbal commitments during the game.

Below are details on the seven commitments that were made during the game.
Four-star safety Bubba Bolden commits to USC
Southern Cal picked up a big commitment for its class of 2017, with four-star safety Bubba Bolden (6’3, 190 pounds, Las Vegas, Nevada) announcing his pledge to USC. Bolden chose the Trojans over Ohio State and Arizona State.
Four-star OT Chuck Filiaga commits to Michigan
Chuck Filiaga (6’6, 335 pounds, Aledo, Texas) announced his verbal commitment to Michigan on Saturday. Filiaga is the No. 14 ranked offensive tackle in the country per 247Sports. He chose the Wolverines over Nebraska and Oklahoma. Here’s Maize n Brew on the pick-up for head coach Jim Harbaugh.
After Michigan missed out on 2017 five-star offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson, who decided to head to Georgia, Filiaga became a huge priority for Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines. He could possibly compete for a starting job right away in Ann Arbor.
Filiaga officially visited Michigan (Oct. 1), Oklahoma (Oct. 28), Texas (Dec. 3), and Nebraksa (Dec. 6).
Four-star RB Eno Benjamin picks Arizona State
Arizona State head coach Todd Graham got a huge pick-up on Saturday, with the pledge of four-star Eno Benjamin (5’9, 204 pounds, Wylie, Texas), who chose the Sun Devils over Texas, Michigan, Baylor, and Utah. Benjamin is the No. 8 running back in the country per 247Sports. House of Sparky broke down what may have swayed Benjamin to go out of state.
ASU, Michigan and Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas and Utah composed Benjamin’s final six, but Baylor was also recently in on the sweepstakes. As of late, he was believed to have settled on choosing between the Sun Devils and Longhorns.
Texas recently earned the commitment of two other tailbacks for its 2017 class, presumably enough to encourage Benjamin to pledge with ASU considering it’s only added one running back this cycle (Trelon Smith).
Four-star WR Jamire Calvin commits to Oregon State
Oregon State got a huge pick-up with four-star wideout Jamire Calvin (5’9, 175 pounds, Los Angeles, Calif.) committing to Oregon State’s 2017 class. Calvin picked the Beavers over Alabama, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Washington State. Here’s what Building The Dam had to say about the commitment.
The 5-foot-9, 175-pound pass-catcher joins high school teammates Arex Flemings and Jeffery Manning Jr. who have also committed to Oregon State for the upcoming season. Calvin’s connection and familiarity with his high school teammates had a big impact on his decision. He told Oregonlive that “Me and (Flemings) are pretty much best friends. I see him everyday and we hang out on the weekends. We work out together. That’s pretty much my brother. And it plays a big factor.”
Five-star CB Darnay Holmes picks UCLA
The Bruins got a big win on Saturday, landing the verbal commitment of the nation’s No. 2 cornerback Darnay Holmes (5’10, 190 pounds, Calabasas, Calif.) who picked UCLA over USC, Ohio State, and Nebraska. The highlight of his commitment was his adorable nephew’s disappointment that he didn’t pick Ohio State.
Five-star CB Jeffrey Okudah goes with Ohio State
The nation’s No. 1 cornerback is headed to Columbus. The 6’1.5, 190-pound defensive back chose the Buckeyes over Florida State and Oklahoma.
Five-star OT Foster Sarell picks Stanford
The nation’s No. 2 overall prospect, offensive lineman Foster Sarell (6’6.5, 311 pounds, Graham, Wash.) chose Stanford over Washington, USC, Nebraska and Notre Dame. Here’s what Rule of Tree has to say about the decision.
Stanford’s Tunnel Workers Union has now locked down its bookends of the future on the offensive line, after the nation’s premier offensive tackle Foster Sarell chose the Cardinal over Washington during Saturday’s Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
The Graham-Kapowsin (WA) High School five-star senior was thought to be leaning more towards staying in-state with coach Chris Petersen and the Huskies. However, Stanford has slowly gained traction as fellow Cardinal 2017 commits and Army All-Americans Davis Mills and Walker Little have been relentless in their personal recruiting efforts both this week and throughout the fall.
Standouts
- Montgomery (Ala.) Lee receiver Henry Ruggs had 79 yards and a touchdown. Ruggs is considering Alabama, Florida State, Auburn and Florida.
- Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity receiver D.J. Matthews added a 76-yard touchdown, after which he launched the ball to the troops in the crowd, and saluted. Matthews is committed to Florida State.
- Jaelan Phillips, a UCLA commitment at defensive end, had five tackles and pressured QBs on the East team all day.
