Deerfield Beach (Fla.) linebacker Rosendo Louis committed to South Carolina on Wednesday, the first day of college football’s Early Signing Period.
A South Carolina commit caught himself accidentally committing to South Florida
It happens.

But not without a little hitch at the beginning of his announcement:
Louis announced he’d “attend the University of South Florida,” then caught himself almost immediately and covered his mouth with his left hand.
“Damn. South Carolina,” Louis then followed up as everyone in the room, himself included, started laughing. It was funny and no big deal, though it might’ve momentarily excited the coaching staff at USF, which isn’t far from Louis’ home.
Louis had been committed to Florida State. He’s the No. 22 inside linebacker in the class of 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite.
This kind of thing happens, it turns out, when high schoolers hold big media events and announce crucial life decisions in front of a bank of television cameras. It’s fine! Louis is from South Florida and probably thinks about South Florida, the region, a lot.
Last year’s example: Georgian defensive lineman Aubrey Solomon committing to Michigan by putting on a Wolverines hat as he announced he’d go to Miami:
Kids are like adults, in that they misspeak sometimes. It’s all fine.
