- North Carolina added four-star linebacker Payton Wilson, a big, athletic hitter from Hillsborough (NC).
- UCLA picked up four-star safety Stephan Blaylock from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco, a major powerhouse.
- The Michigan Wolverines added four-star QB Joe Milton from Orlando (Fla.) Olympia. I wrote a scouting report on Milton, examining his strengths and weaknesses, with a video.
- Texas flipped four-star safety Caden Sterns from LSU. Sterns is from Cibolo (TX).
- Kentucky added guard Marquan McCall from Oak Park (MI), widely considered one of the five best guards nationally.

Trends and analysis
- After losing QB commit Cam Rising to Oklahoma, might the Sooners be closing in on former Cal QB commit Adrian Martinez? Or will Tennessee be his destination? SB Nation profiled the possibility in the 2018 QB dominoes piece.
- Oregon picked up nine commitments in the span of a month, including six four-stars. Four are from California, one from Colorado, one from Florida, one from North Carolina, and one from Arizona.
- Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator, landed a big contract extension. What does this have to do with recruiting? A lot.
- There is some wonkiness in the early 247Sports Composite Team Rankings. Alabama is 46th, while Georgia is 63rd. On the flip side, Minnesota is 11th, Northwestern is 13th, and Kansas is 22nd.
- Short receivers are not getting drafted highly. But short defensive backs are.
