The SB Nation College Football Recruiting Podcast returns with a new episode. You can subscribe to the show on Apple Podcasts and Stitcher.

As always, the show opens with a discussion of the biggest commitments and decommitments of the previous week or so.

Listen in the embedded player below, or click here.

Then we get into the question of who will be the next head coach to win his first national title. At current, only four active coaches have done so: Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Jimbo Fisher, and Dabo Swinney.

Richard Johnson and I debate the odds of 16 coaches breaking through, roughly in the following order, spending a few minutes on each.

  • James Franklin, Penn State
  • Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State
  • Jim Harbaugh, Michigan
  • Clay Helton, USC
  • Tom Herman, Texas
  • Kirby Smart, Georgia
  • Gus Malzahn, Auburn
  • Jim McElwain, Florida
  • Brian Kelly, Notre Dame
  • Ed Orgeron, LSU
  • Chris Petersen, Washington
  • Mark Richt, Miami
  • Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma
  • Mike Riley, Nebraska
  • David Shaw, Stanford
  • Willie Taggart, Oregon

At the conclusion of the show, we give our top five selections.
