Here’s your first look at ‘College Football 27’ and ‘Madden 27’

Mascot game! Tush push!

The official reveals of both College Football 27 and Madden NFL 27 will come on Thursday night as EA Sports holds back-to-back livestreams of the new features in the games beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Ahead of the release we got some new screenshots from both games, and they are absolutely fascinating to diagnose.

Kicking off with College Football 27 we got this.

The big revelation here is the return of the mascot game, which fans have been clamoring for. It’s a silly, dumb mode — but always so much fun to see team mascots take the field instead of players, so it’s nice to have it back. The real screenshot that we’re debating is in the bottom left. That sure looks like Michigan and Ohio State fighting in the Michigan tunnel, which raises all sorts of questions. Does this mean we’re going to see a heightened integration of rivalries into games? Is there a possibility you can choose to start fights with your player in Dynasty mode? However this ends up manifesting itself is very cool, and we’re excited to see it.

Also we got a look at LSU Lane Kiffin, which still doesn’t feel quite right.

When it comes to the NFL we got screenshots from Madden NFL 27 as well, and while they aren’t quite as eye-popping, there is some stuff to notice here too.

We’ve got Fernando Mendoza about to run in a touchdown as the No. 1 overall pick makes the screenshot gallery, which highlights the new lighting model that is coming to the game this year. We can also see this in the fourth screenshot with much better shadows, but it’s easy to look past that with the realization that the Tush Push is coming to Madden. Any time we get a new play in the series it’s either going to achieve absolutely nothing or be so overpowered that it’s going to alter how the game is played online. We’ll need to wait and see how that one pans out.

The reveal livestreams for EA College Football 27 and Madden NFL 27 will begin at 8 p.m. ET on YouTube.
