Rutgers looks to remain undefeated when they host a Syracuse Orange team that just snapped an eight-game FBS winless streak.

Rutgers' strength has been it's defense, which has allowed only 10.3 points per game, fifth best in the FBS. Most recently, the Scarlet Knights topped Connecticut, 19-3, on Oct. 6. Kicker Kyle Federico injured his hip in the UConn game and his status is uncertain; in his place backup kicker Nick DeLouisa missed an extra point, and the coaching staff responded by holding open tryouts to try to find a new kicker.
Syracuse snapped an eight-game FBS winless streak when the Orange topped Pittsburgh, 14-13, on Oct. 5. The Syracuse defense came alive against the Panthers, holding a previously-formidable Pitt rushing attack to a pitiful 27 yards on 37 carries.
The last two times these teams have met, the game has gone down to the wire, with Rutgers taking the 2011 matchup, 19-16, in double overtime and the Orange winning, 13-10, in 2010. The Scarlet Knights certainly hope it won’t come down to field goals on Saturday.
