Oklahoma vs. Texas: Steve Edmond injury adds to Longhorns’ defensive woes

Texas linebacker Steve Edmond left for the sideline early against Oklahoma.

Texas linebacker Steve Edmond was helped off the field with a knee injury during Oklahoma's opening drive in the 2012 edition of the Red River Shootout. It took him quite a while to reach the sideline -- the Sooners were at the line and raring to go by the time he was able to leave the field. There's no word yet on how long he'll be out.

Update: He’s back!

It's yet another setback for a defense that was supposed to be one of the country's best. Jordan Hicks is also out of the lineup with an injury.

On the year, Edmond is second on the team in tackles and third in tackles for loss.

So far, Oklahoma's looking like it's going to be able to run the ball on Texas, which has been a glaring weakness for the mighty Horns. Our own Crimson and Cream Machine recommended the Sooners attack the middle of Texas' D, and so far it's working. Landry Jones has completed all four of his passes, and three Oklahoma runs have already exceeded six yards.
