Kent State vs. Army 2012 results: Ground game propels Golden Flashes to 31-17 win

Dri Archer rushed for 222 yards to spur the Kent State Golden Flashes to a 31-17 victory over Army on Saturday afternoon.

The Kent State Golden Flashes used a potent rushing attack which notched 283 yards to top the Army Black Knights, 31-17 at West Point on Saturday afternoon.

The Black Knights were unable to record a touchdown until the 12 minute, 29 second mark of the fourth quarter when Malcolm Brown scored on a 5-yard rush to get cut the Army deficit to 24-10. Kent State, however, put the game away with a backbreaking 87-yard touchdown run by running back Dri Archer following a fumble recovery.

After a scoreless first quarter, Kent State began the scoring with two unanswered touchdowns to head into the half with a 14-0 lead. Archer put the Golden Flashes ahead 7-0 with a 24-yard touchdown throw to quarterback Spencer Keith, who followed the play up with a passing score of his own to wide receiver Eric Adeyemi for 30 yards nearly five minutes later.

The two teams traded field goals in the third quarter before Traylon Durham tacked on 2-yard rushing touchdown to put Kent State up 24-3.

Box Score Hero: Dri Archer was uncontainable in the ground game as he produced 222 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. He also added a passing score for good measure.

But Did They Cover? With the win, Kent State easily covered as one-point favorites.
