Even though he suffered a concussion in his team's win over Stanford, Notre Dame sophomore quarterback Everett Golson is still expected to play this upcoming Saturday against BYU according to a report by J.J. Stankevitz of CSNChicago.com.

Unable to finish Saturday’s game due to a head injury, Irish sophomore Everett Golson is still expected to be on the field this weekend to face BYU.

Along with completing 12 of his 24 passes for 141 yards, the 6'1, 185-pound quarterback committed three crucial turnovers before leaving after a helmet-to-helmet hit left him with blurred vision. Golson was then replaced by backup quarterback Tommy Rees, who proceeded to once again lead the team on a scoring drive after reaching overtime.
Golson is still experiencing light symptoms and will need to be cleared during the week, even though Irish head coach Brian Kelly remains fully optimistic that he will have his starter on the field in Week 8. The clutch performance from Rees also might have thrown a wrench into things when coupled with Golson’s injury though, and Kelly admits that both players may see time under center against the Cougars.
“Both of them could play,” Kelly said. “I wouldn’t rule it out. But we’re probably putting too much on this. I’m really confident Everett will be cleared.”
Rees started nearly every single game last year for Kelly and the Irish, and has really begun to thrive in a relief role after taking a backseat to Golson entering the year. While Golson’s presence may be huge for the Irish against a possession-eating team like BYU, Notre Dame may opt to use their youngster in a limited capacity in order to keep him fresh for an Oct. 27 date with Oklahoma.
