Minnesota vs. Wisconsin: Gophers QB MarQueis Gray doubtful for rivalry game

Minnesota Gophers quarterback MarQueis Gray is doubtful for the team’s upcoming game against the Wisconsin Badgers.

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Minnesota Golden Gophers quarterback MarQueis Gray is wearing a walking boot and is doubtful for The Battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe against the Wisconsin Badgers on Oct. 20.

Minnesota (4-2, 0-2) is still looking for their first Big Ten win of the season against the rival Badgers (4-2, 1-1) and will likely have to do it without QB Gray. After missing two games Gray returned to the field in the Gophers 21-13 loss to Northwestern on Saturday, but was injured in the third quarter. He had been splitting time with sophomore QB Max Shortell.

The Gophers QB is currently in a walking boot and the team said the goal for Tuesday was to get him jogging, but they admitted he is not full speed. Gray had rushed for 86 yards and a TD in three quarters of play against Northwestern and has rushed for 320 yards and three touchdowns on the season. Gray has also thrown for 464 yards and five TDs; if he is unable to go Shortell will see all the snaps at QB.
