Colorado vs. USC 2012 final score: Trojans overwhelm Buffaloes, win 50-6

Behind six touchdowns from Matt Barkley, the USC Trojans rolled past the Colorado Buffaloes at home.

Steve Dykes

The No. 10 ranked USC Trojans rolled by their Pac-12 conference foes in the Colorado Buffaloes by the score of 50-6, after the Trojans dominated on both sides of the ball for all four quarters.

The Trojans were able to jump on the Buffaloes early, finding the end zone on their second snap of the game when star quarterback Matt Barkley connected with wide receiver Marqise Lee for 55 yards and the score. It was a sign of things to come for both teams, as Barkley enjoyed a field day at home against the Buffaloes.

Barkley broke USC’s career touchdowns record, while Robert Woods became the Trojan’s all-time catches leader.

While the Buffaloes were able to stop the two-headed running attack of USC’s, they were picked apart by Barkley and the passing game. The senior quarterback completed 19 of 20 passes for 298 yards and six touchdowns, before being pulled after three quarters to avoid injury.

The Buffaloes were unable to get a stop or put any points on the board, besides a pair of first half field goals off the leg of kicker Will Oliver, leading to the team's sixth loss of the season.

Box Score Hero: There are a few candidates for this spot, but wide receiver Robert Woods earns it for catching eight passes on the day, picking up more than 130 yards and four touchdowns.

Rankings Ramifications: Already ranked in the top 10, the Trojans will be moving up in the rankings as long as team(s) ahead of them fall. The Buffaloes will remain unranked, after losing yet another game on the season.

But Did They Cover? In order to cover the spread, the Trojans needed to win by more than 40 points at home over the Buffaloes. They were able to do just that.
