Ohio vs. Miami (OH) final score: Redhawks upset No. 24 Bobcats, 23-20

Miami (OH) handed Ohio its first loss of the season on Saturday.

Miami (OH) quarterback Zac Dysert orchestrated am eight-play, 59-yard drive to set up the go-ahead field goal to upset No. 24 Ohio, 23-20, on Saturday.

Ohio, down 20-17, had three attempts to take the lead late in the fourth quarter when they had first-and-goal at the Miami 5-yard line but failed to score. Ohio quarterback Tyler Tettleton was sacked by Jason Semmes on third down for a 16-yard loss that forced a 38-yard field to tie the game 20-20 with 4:41 left in the fourth quarter.

Kaleb Patterson made a 31-yard field goal on the ensuing Miami (OH) possession for the Redhawks' only points of the second half and the victory.

Ohio drove to the Miami (OH) 7-yard line with 16 seconds left in the game but Tettleton was sacked for a loss and time expired before the Bobcats could get off another play.

The Redhawks’ win ended No. 24 Ohio’s bid for an undefeated season as the Bobcats fell to 7-1 on the season and 3-1 in the Mid-American conference.

Rankings Ramifications: With the loss, Ohio will likely fall out of the top 25 in the BCS standings.

But Did They Cover? Ohio was favored by 6.5 points and did not cover.

Next Week’s Schedule: Ohio will host Eastern Michigan at home on Thursday while Miami (OH) will travel to play Buffalo on the road next Saturday.
