Navy vs. Air Force 2012 results: Midshipmen pull off upset, win 28-21 in overtime

Navy pulled off an upset on Saturday, defeating the Air Force Falcons, 28-21 in overtime.

Four quarters weren't enough to decide Saturday's contest between the Air Force Falcons and Navy Midshipmen, as the Midshipmen prevailed in overtime, winning 28-21.

Offensive lineman Jake Zuzek scored Navy's decisive touchdown in overtime, recovering a fumble by Keenan Reynolds, giving Navy a 28-21 lead.

The Falcons had a chance to respond. Facing a do-or-die 4th-and-6, Connor Dietz threw a pass to Chris Jordan. The pass, however, was broken up by Wes Henderson, sealing Navy's upset win over Air Force.

Air Force jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, when Connor Dietz connected with Drew Coleman on a 35-yard touchdown pass, capping off a quick four play, 75 yard drive that took just 1:29 off the clock.

Navy bounced back in the second quarter, scoring ten unanswered points headed into halftime. Noah Copeland's 5-yard touchdown run gave Navy a 10-7 lead -- Navy's first lead of the game.

Cody Getz, who finished the game with 204 yards rushing on 29 carries, put Air Force back on top in the third quarter, when he scampered for a 14-yard touchdown run, giving the Falcons a 14-10 lead.

After a Navy field goal, Air Force extended its lead to 21-13, when wide receiver Dontae Strickland threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Drew Coleman.

Navy tied the game up with 6:35 left to go in the game, when Keenan Reynolds ran for a 15-yard touchdown. Copeland ran the ball into the endzone for the two-point conversion, tying the game at 21-21.

Box Score Hero: Cody Getz, Air Force. Despite losing, Getz ran for a game-high 204 yards on 29 carries.

Rankings Ramifications: Neither team will factor into next week’s rankings.
