Ohio Bobcats become first bowl-eligible team in college football

The Ohio Bobcats became the nation's first team to become bowl eligible today. The Bobcats improved to 6-0 on the season with a closer-than-expected 38-31 win over Buffalo. The game was tied 24-24 heading into the fourth quarter before Ryan Botkin added touchdown runs of 2 and 51 yards to put the Bobcats up for good. A late Buffalo touchdown closed the margin to seven, but the game was already decided.

With teams from the major conferences struggling pretty much nationwide, the unbeaten Bobcats will likely begin receiving more attention in the polls. Should they run the table, that opening weekend win over Penn State will look better and better and could be enough to make them a potential BCS team.
