BCS standings computer likes Florida, Ohio State, South Carolina

The first edition of the BCS rankings for the 2012 season will be released after the completion of the eighth week of play. The BCS looks at the Harris Poll, the AP Coaches Poll, and various computer rankings in their formula to rank teams.

One of the computer rankings used is the ELO Chess rating system. Jeff Sagarin of the USA Today uses them in his weekly football ratings, and it should come as no surprise that Alabama tops the list. The computer also really likes Florida, with Ohio State currently sitting third. The top 15 teams according to the ELO Chess formula can be found below:

  1. Alabama - 95.17
  2. Florida - 94.70
  3. Ohio State - 90.82
  4. South Carolina - 90.78
  5. Notre Dame - 90.11
  6. Oregon - 90.08
  7. Kansas State - 89.72
  8. West Virginia - 89.70
  9. LSU - 89.51
  10. Stanford - 87.23
  11. USC - 86.97
  12. Oregon State - 86.39
  13. Georgia - 86.04
  14. Texas - 85.23
  15. Oklahoma - 84.83

The first edition of the BCS rankings will be released on Sunday, Oct. 14.
