Etienne Sabino injury: Ohio State LB out 4 weeks with broken leg

Buckeyes defensive captain Sabino to miss four weeks with right-leg injury.

Ohio St. Buckeyes senior linebacker Etienne Sabino will miss four weeks with a bone fracture in his right leg, the school announced Monday. Sabino, the defensive captain, suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday's 63-38 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

After the game, Sabino was seen wearing a protective walking boot. Initially, it was reported Sabino would miss just this week's Big Ten Conference showdown with the Indiana Hoosiers. Now, the 6'3, 237-pound linebacker will be out against Indiana, Purdue Boilermakers (Oct. 20), Penn St. Nittany Lions (Oct. 27) and Illinois Fighting Illini (Nov. 3).

Luckily, those four schools have a combined league record of 2-5. Both those wins are from the Nittany Lions, who are on a four-game winning streak.

In his place, the Buckeyes are expected to rely heavily on a pair of true freshmen, Joshua Perry and Camren Williams. Both were called into action Saturday when Sabino and and teammate Ryan Shazier went down with injuries. Another player who will see action is sophomore Curtis Grant, who lost his starting job to Storm Klein earlier in the year.
