Taysom Hill injury: BYU QB done for the year

BYU’s freshman quarterback is out for the season after injuring his knee in the waning minutes of a 6-3 victory over Utah State.

BYU Cougars freshman quarterback Taysom Hill's season has come to an end after he suffered a knee injury in a 6-3 victory over the Utah State Aggies.

SB Nation’s BYU blog Vanquish the Foe broke the news that Hill sustained ligament damage to his left knee on the final non-kneel-down play of the game when he was tackled while his left foot was planted.

Hill apparently missed the victory formation signal from the BYU sideline and ran a play instead of taking a knee. BYU football trainer Jeff Hurst said Hill will have surgery to repair a torn LCL and will most likely be out four to six months.

Hill was 24-for-36 with 235 yards, a touchdown and an interception against the Aggies. Senior Riley Nelson, who is currently recovering from a back injury, will most likely replace him. Nelson has played in four games this season, throwing for 754 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions.
