Keenan Allen injury: Cal’s best player to miss at least 2 games

The Cal Bears will be without star wide receiver Keenan Allen for two-to-three games after the junior injured his PCL in last week’s game against Utah.

The Cal Bears will be without wide receiver Keenan Allen for at least two games, according to head coach Jeff Tedford. The junior injured his PCL in the Bears' 49-27 loss to Utah last Saturday and is expected to need two-to-three weeks to recover.

Allen has been dazzling in an otherwise dismal season for the Bears (3-6, 2-4 Pac-12). In nine games, he’s caught 61 passes for 737 yards and six touchdowns. The 6’3 Allen has also rushed three times for 39 yards and a touchdown. His finest performance of the year came in a 31-17 win over the Washington State Cougars in Week 7 when he caught 11 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown.

The junior, one of the nation’s top receivers, was expected to leave for the NFL following the Bears’ 2012 campaign. His knee injury, depending on the severity, could impact that decision.

Kickoff for the Bears' game against the Washington Huskies is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET on Friday and will be televised on ESPN 2. A game against Oregon follows.
