The No. 17 Texas Longhorns defeated the Iowa State Cyclones, 33-7, on Saturday afternoon at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium while honoring the building's namesake. The Longhorns racked up 609 yards of total offense in the victory.

Longhorns quarterback David Ash finished with 364 yards and a two touchdowns. He had two favorite targets, connecting with Jaxon Shipley eight times for 137 yards and finding Mike Davis on seven occasions, totaling 113 yards and a touchdown. Texas' running game was in top form as well, finishing with 221 total rushing yards on 41 carries.

Texas' defense did its part as well, holding the Cyclones to under 300 yards of offense, including just 133 in the passing game. The Longhorns sacked Iowa State quarterback Steele Jantz twice and forced him to throw an interception.

Iowa State remains a win shy of bowl eligibility, falling to 5-5. Meanwhile, Texas improved to 8-2 on the season, while notching their fifth win in Big 12 play.

Box Score Hero: Ash threw just one incomplete pass in the first half, and finished 25 for 31 for 364 yards and a couple of scores. Also deserving of a mention are Texas running backs Joe Bergeron and Johnathan Gray, who combined to carry the ball 27 times for 165 yards and two touchdowns.

Rankings Ramifications: Texas should be guaranteed to move up at least one spot in the polls, with the loser of Oregon State and Stanford likely to fall behind the Longhorns.

But Did They Cover? Texas entered the game as 10 1/2-point favorites, and easily covered.
