Jeff Driskel injury: Florida QB leaves game

Gators quarterback Jeff Driskel has left the team’s game against UL-Lafayette with an ankle injury, and may not return. He’s replaced by Jacoby Brissett.

Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel has left the Gators’ game against UL-Lafayette in the third quarter with an injury. Driskel appeared to have injured his ankle, and is not expected to return. Jacoby Brissett has come into the game his place.

Driskel was 13-18 for 98 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game, and also had 77 rushing yards to lead the team. His production will be difficult to replace, despite the fact that the Gators offense has not done very much against ULL.

Driskel, a sophomore from Oviedo, FL, is 111-176 for 1220 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions this season. He also has 348 rushing yards and four touchdowns to his credit, roughly half of which came in a 177 yard, three touchdown effort on Oct. 13th against the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Brissett, who is also a sophomore, has had limited playing time so far this season for the Gators. For the year, he's 3-5 for 31 yards, and has five rushing yards and a touchdown.
