Missouri vs. Tennessee final score: Tigers win wild 4OT affair, 51-48

Missouri capped off a terrific second half with a game-winning field goal in the fourth overtime period against Tennessee to become bowl-eligible on Saturday.

The Missouri Tigers defeated the Tennessee Volunteers, 51-48, on Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. With the win, the Tigers became bowl-eligible in their first season in the SEC.

Missouri placekicker Andrew Baggett made a 35-yard field goal in the fourth overtime period to give the Tigers a hard-fought road win. It capped off a wild set of overtime periods that featured 43 total points, including a successful fake field goal attempt for a touchdown by Tennessee.

After allowing 721 yards of total offense to the Troy Trojans last weekend, Tennessee's defense stepped up against Missouri, surrendering just 64 total yards in the first half. However, Missouri came alive in the second half behind running back Kendial Lawrence, who had a 77-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage out of the break. That ignited the Tigers, who racked up nearly 400 combined yards of offense in the second half and overtime periods.

Box Score Hero: Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray completed 37 of 54 passes for 404 yards and four touchdowns. Missouri's Lawrence, who carried the ball 21 times for 153 yards and two scores, is worth a nod here, as well.

But Did They Cover? Tennessee was favored by 3.5 points entering the game. With the Vols’ loss, those who bet on Missouri are the winners here.
