Watch Montee Ball’s Division I record-tying touchdown

Wisconsin’s Montee Ball could break the all-time major college football touchdowns record in this game. He’s just tied it.

Wisconsin Badgers running back Montee Ball now has 78 career touchdowns, tying him with the former sole Division I record-holder, Miami (Ohio)'s Travis Prentice, who finished his college ball in 1999. Ohio State entered Saturday fully aware of Ball's quest for the mark, and there was plenty of chatter about Urban Meyer using the record as motivation for his defense.

This is not the NCAA record, as has been claimed. Division III Mount Union’s Nate Kmic had 130 career touchdowns, and other lower-division players have had more than 78.

With the Badgers so close to the goal line, you could almost sense the anticipation in the crowd. Ball got some great blocking from the finally cohesive Wisconsin offensive line, then made a maniacal effort inside the three to finish it off:

He’s got 37 more minutes to get another touchdown here, plus three more games to add some distance.

I would say BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THE WINNER, but this game quite literally means nothing for the Big Ten standings, the BCS, the Big Ten championship game’s participants or anything else beyond bragging rights.
