Ohio State vs. Wisconsin 2012 final score: Buckeyes outlast Badgers, 21-14 in OT

Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde had two touchdowns to lead the Buckeyes over Wisconsin in overtime. And, yes, they’ll get Big Ten Leaders championship gear for this.

Ohio State struggled on offense but outlasted Wisconsin, 21-14 in overtime, to improve to 11-0 on Saturday.

Philly Brown opened the scoring with a 68-yard punt return to put Ohio State up 7-0 with 1.58 remaining in the first quarter. The Buckeyes extended their lead to 14-0 on a 15-yard touchdown run by Carlos Hyde in the second quarter.

Montee Ball answered for Wisconsin with a 7-yard touchdown run with 7:30 remaining in the second quarter to cut Ohio State's lead to 14-7 and also tie Travis Prentice for the most career touchdowns in Division I history with 78.

Wisconsin had the ball at the Ohio State 1-yard with 3:07 left to play but Ball fumbled as he tried to leap over his offensive line for the touchdown and Christian Bryant recovered for the Buckeyes. This might be remembered as the play of the game:

Wisconsin got the ball back with 1:33 left in the game and Curt Phillips found Jacob Pedersen for 5 yards in the end zone to tie the game, 14-14, with eight seconds left in regulation.

On the first possession of overtime, Hyde had a 2-yard run for his second touchdown of the game to put Ohio State up 21-14, and the Buckeyes’ defense halted Wisconsin on 4th-and-6 at the 21-yard line to secure the win.

Box Score Hero: Carlos Hyde rushed 15 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns for Ohio State.

Rankings Ramifications: Ohio State was ranked sixth in the AP poll heading into this game and could rise in the rankings if someone falls.

But Did They Cover? Wisconsin was favored by 1-point.
