Washington State vs. Arizona State 2012 final score: Sun Devils run Cougars out of town, 46-7

The Arizona State Sun Devils easily took care of work at home against the Washington State Cougars, routing their visitors on Saturday

Behind Taylor Kelly's four big-play passing touchdowns, the (6-5) Arizona State Sun Devils ran the (2-9) Washington State Cougars out of town Saturday at Sun Devil Stadium, beating Wazzu 46-7 in the Pac-12 clash.

The game turned into a laugher early as the Sun Devils jumped out to an 18-0 lead after one quarter of play. Arizona State continued its dominance and at one point held a 46-0 lead. The Cougars were finally able to jump on the board with 57 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, scoring on a 54-yard passing touchdown, but it was obviously too little too late.

Saturday’s game story is all about the Sun Devils, though, running out a Pac-12 opponent at home on senior day. Besides the defensive unit as a whole, starting quarterback Taylor Kelly starred and took over the game early. Kelly threw four touchdowns, all of which were on passing plays of 15 yards or more.

Freshman quarterback Michael Eubank even joined in on the fun, completing seven of nine passes for 55 yards and two touchdowns (one rushing). Senior running back Cameron Marshall rushed for 75 yards and wide receiver Rashad Ross caught eight passes for 79 yards while finding himself in the end zone on two separate occasions.

Box Score Hero: Sophomore quarterback Taylor Kelly completed 20 of 23 passes for 246 yards and four touchdowns to zero interceptions.

Rankings Ramifications: Both teams are unranked and expected to remain unranked after Saturday’s game, including Arizona State.

But Did They Cover? The Sun Devils easily covered the 21-point spread at home.
