The MVC-champion North Dakota State Bison will enter the 20-team FCS championship tournament as the top-ranked team in the nation. The tourney’s full bracket was released Sunday afternoon in anticipation of the seven-week tournament.
FCS playoffs 2012 bracket: North Dakota State, Eastern Washington lead field
North Dakota State grabbed the FCS’s top seed in the 20-team 2012 FCS Tournament, but Kyle Padron and Eastern Washington are right behind at No. 2.


The games kick off Nov. 24 with four first-round games. 12 of the 20 participants receive first-round byes in the tournament. The top four ranked teams face off against the winners of the first-round games, with the Bison awaiting the winner of South Dakota State vs. Eastern Illinois.
The second round begins Dec. 1.
The Eastern Washington Eagles, the Big Sky regular season champion, claimed the No. 2 spot and will play the winner of next weekend’s all-New York showdown between the Wagner Seahawks and the Colgate Raiders. The No. 3 Montana State Bobcats, the Big Sky’s runner-up, along with the No. 4 Old Dominion Monarchs and No. 5 Georgia Southern Eagles, round out the ranked teams in the tournament.
The Eagles will take on the Central Arkansas Bears in second-round action.
All 20 teams will aim to make their way to the Jan. 5 FCS Championship Game in Frisco, Texas.
