USC coaching staff changes will be Lane Kiffin’s decision

With a 7-4 record, there’s no doubt that USC’s 2012 season has been disappointing. Still, AD Pat Haden won’t force head coach Lane Kiffin to make changes to his staff in the off-season.

There’s no doubt that it’s been a disappointing season at USC, however athletic director Pat Haden won’t force Lane Kiffin to make changes to his coaching staff in the off-season.

The news came via ESPNLA reporter Arash Markazi on Wednesday, when he tweeted:

Haden said he will talk to Kiffin after Saturday about possible coaching staff changes but the decision will be Kiffin’s.

Most of the frustration from Trojans fans centers around the USC defense, which still hasn’t been able to figure out how to defend the Pac-12’s spread offenses. Currently USC allows 392 yards per game, and has given up at least 38 points to three of their last four opponents. The Trojans have lost all three of the games which they’ve allowed 38 or more points.

USC’s defensive coordinator is Monte Kiffin, the son of head coach Lane Kiffin.

In addition to the defense, many believe that it’s also time for Lane Kiffin to hire an offensive coordinator. As things stand, Lane Kiffin calls all the offense’s plays.

USC will host No. 1 Notre Dame Saturday, and will try to avoid a disappointing 7-5 finish to a season which started with so much promise.

The Trojans were ranked the No. 1 team in the country in the preseason polls.
