Despite giving up so many yards, the Tigers secured a 41-35 victory over Mississippi thanks to an 89-yard Odell Beckham Jr. punt return that set up a touchdown run by Jeremy Hill. Zach Mettenberger had his third straight game where he threw for more than 270 yards, although he had two interceptions and no touchdowns. He also had a season-high 37 attempts, a signal of his growing role in the LSU offense.
Wilson’s impressive stats haven’t always helped the Razorbacks to a win. They’re 4-7 after losing their last two, including last week’s 45-14 loss to Mississippi State that saw Tyler Wilson throw for 359 yards with two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions, part of five total turnovers by the Razorbacks.
