Syracuse vs. Temple 2012 final score: Orange win their last Big East game

The Syracuse Orange defeated the Tempe Owls on Friday afternoon by a final score of 38-20.

The Syracuse Orange defeated the Temple Owls at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Friday afternoon by a final score of 38-20, the last-ever Big East game for Cuse.

After Temple managed to score 10 points in the first quarter, Syracuse came alive by scoring 17 points in the second to take a 17-13 lead into halftime. After each team managed to score a touchdown in the third quarter, the Orange registered two more scores in the final frame to put the game out of reach.

Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib finished the game 16-of-28 for 215 yards and one touchdown. His counterpart, Temple quarterback Clinton Granger, ended the day 16-of-23 for 173 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions (the second of which was returned by Keon Lyn for a touchdown with less than three minutes remaining in the game). Granger also added 61 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

Friday’s game was each team’s last of the 2012 regular season. Syracuse finished with a 7-5 overall record and a 5-2 record in the conference. Temple finished with a 4-7 overall record and a 2-5 record in their first year back in the Big East.

Box Score Hero: Running back Adonis Ameen-Moore rushed for 57 yards on 10 carries and scored two touchdowns. Both touchdowns put the Orange in the lead, the latter of which settled the game in favor of Syracuse.

Rankings Ramifications: Neither team was ranked entering the game and neither will be ranked in the next release.

But Did They Cover? Syracuse opened as an 8.5-point favorite and was at 7 to 7.5 before the game kicked off. With an 18-point victory, the team more than covered.

Next Week’s Schedule: Both teams finished their regular seasons, but Syracuse will wait for a bowl bid.
