Teddy Bridgewater injury: Louisville QB reportedly breaks wrist

Louisville starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater underwent X-rays on his wrist during halftime of the Cardinals’ game against the Connecticut Huskies.

Update:

Louisville Cardinals starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater underwent X-rays on his wrist, according to Howie Lindsey. Bridgewater was injured on the second-to-last play of the first half, when Connecticut linebacker Sio Moore made a horse-collar tackle on Bridgewater.

Will Stein, Louisville's back up quarterback, is warming up for the second half – not Bridgewater.

Bridgewater has put together an excellent season for the Cardinals this year, completing 217-of-306 passes for 2,858 yards and 21 touchdowns. He has only thrown five interceptions on the season. Against UConn, Bridgewater completed 11-of-20 passes for 75 yards, though he was sacked three times in the first half.

Bridgewater is expected to return for Louisville, as long as the X-rays come back clean.

Stein, a senior, has attempted just 11 passes this season. Either Bridgewater or Stein will need to mount a comeback if the Cardinals are to avoid an upset loss to the Huskies. Louisville currently trails Connecticut, 10-0, early in the third quarter.
