Tommy Rees vs. Everett Golson: Brian Kelly would be bad at ‘Deal or No Deal’

Tommy Rees is in for Everett Golson again. [UPDATE: Golson is already back in.]

Matt Cashore-US PRESSWIRE

Brian Kelly is a big fan of playing both his quarterbacks. Whether it's an itchy trigger finger or merely trying to find a spark, he's not against switching Tommy Rees in for Everett Golson when the going gets going for Notre Dame.

With the Fighting Irish still down to Pitt midway through the third quarter, Kelly made a change once again. Rees came in for the Golson, who was 9 of 15 for 88 yards before being pulled. I’m sure Golson will come back in; this seems to be a recurring theme.

Rees hasn’t been awe-inspiring, completing 6 of 10 passes for 65 yards, and the important thing is the interception he threw leading to a Pittsburgh score, pushing the Panthers’ lead to 17-6.

Kelly has found some magic in Rees this year in critical moments, but the switch today could prove costly.
