Missouri DT Sheldon Richardson declares for 2013 NFL Draft

Missouri Tigers defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson will leave school early and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.

Missouri Tigers defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson announced that he will leave school early and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.

Richardson is a 6’4, 295-pound junior defensive tackle for the Tigers. He led Missouri’s defense with 75 tackles (10.5 for loss), four sacks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 11 games. Richardson is projected as a first-round pick.

He is from St. Louis and went to junior college at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif. for two years before joining the Tigers.

Missouri finished the 2012 season with a 5-7 record and a 2-6 mark in the SEC in their first year in the conference. The only Missouri player selected in the 2012 NFL Draft was tight end Michael Egnew, who was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the third round. Two Missouri players (linebacker Aldon Smith and quarterback Blaine Gabbert) were selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

The first round of the 2013 NFL Draft will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
