The Aggies head coach guided the team to its most successful season in school history, posting a 10-2 record and securing a spot in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

Utah State Aggies head coach Gary Andersen announced on Friday that he will remain as the team's head coach, according to an announcement by the university. The 58-year-old coach received a contract extension in October that agreed to keep him as the team's head coach through the 2018 season and also called for raises for all of his assistant coaches.

Andersen, who was rumored to be a candidate for the vacant head coaching positions at both Cal and Colorado, led Utah State to its most successful season in school history in 2012. The Aggies posted a 10-2 record, were undefeated in WAC play (6-0) and also set single-season records for wins (10) and home wins (6). The team won its first outright league championship since 1936, the 11th in school history.

No. 20 Utah State will wrap up its successful season at the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 4:30 p.m. ET against a team yet to be announced from the Mid-American Conference.
