Nicholls State vs. Oregon State 2012 results: Beavers cruise to 77-3 win

Oregon State finished its season on a high note in a rescheduled game with Nicholls State.

The Oregon State Beavers ended their regular season with a dominant, 77-3 victory over Nicholls State in Corvallis on Saturday. The Beavers were as efficient as possible, scoring touchdowns on 11 straight drives. Oregon State moved to 9-3 with the win and now will wait to find out its bowl destination.

OSU has rotated its quarterbacks for much of the season, and head coach Mike Riley gave both Sean Mannion and Cody Vaz opportunities against the Colonels.

Mannion got the start and led the Beavers to touchdowns on their first three drives. Vaz entered the game in the second quarter, and finished the half off with another two touchdowns on his two possessions.

The rotation continued as Mannion re-entered the game to start the third quarter. He would lead two more scoring drives before giving way to Vaz again. Vaz added another two touchdowns before Riley finally gave freshman Richie Harrington the reins for the last half of the fourth quarter.

OSU wide receiver Markus Wheaton set the school record for career receptions with his 11th catch of the game. He finished with 12 catches for 123 yards and two scores (one rushing), all of which came in the first half.

Box Score Hero: Mannion completed 20 of 23 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns in five drives of action.

Rankings Ramifications: Oregon State came into the game at No. 15. They may move up, depending on results around the country.

But Did They Cover? Despite the massive spread of 50 1/2, the Beavers were able to cover comfortably.
