2012 SEC Championship score: Alabama has a field goal edge at the half

So far, the SEC title game has given us everything we were hoping for and more.

Okay, everyone. Take a deep breath. Grab a cold one and freshen up your snack bowl. If the first half of the SEC Championship is any indication, we’re in store for a wild finish between Alabama and Georgia.

Nick Saban got angry, Mark Richt trolled with a fake punt, the unshakeable A.J. McCarron threw an interception at the Georgia 4-yard-line. Oh, and there were questionable penalties and non-penalties, like this hit on Aaron Murray that easily could have been unnecessary roughness:

SEC Championship score updates and discussion

Thanks to a long McCarron scramble during the 2-minute drill, Alabama was able to get a chip shot field goal and leads 10-7 at the break.

One thing to spotlight: Eddie Lacy only had eight carries well into the second quarter, but Nick Saban might want to give him a few more in the second half after Lacy’s ninth carry resulted in a 41-yard touchdown. Jarvis Jones is one heck of a pass rusher as evidenced by his forced fumble on McCarron in the first quarter, but his threat is negated when you run right at him. Perhaps Alabama found a formula for success for the rest of the game.

If Bama can figure out the Georgia defense, Richt will be using some choice words a tad stronger than ‘bull crap.’
