Louisiana Tech has offered Skip Holtz its vacant head coach position, according to a report from Matt Moscona of 104.5 ESPN on Twitter. Moscona tweeted that a decision is expected Thursday night. Also:

Holtz became available after he was fired as head coach at the University of South Florida at the end of this season.

The Bulldogs are looking for a head coach after Sonny Dykes left to take the head coach job at the University of California. Dykes was the head coach at Louisiana Tech for three seasons. He led the Bulldogs to a 22-15 record during his three seasons, including a first-place finish in the Western Athletic Conference in 2011.

This past season, Dykes led the Bulldogs to a 9-3 overall record and a 4-2 record in the WAC.

In three years at USF, Holtz led the Bulls to a 16-21 overall record and a 5-16 mark in the Big East Conference. This season, South Florida went just 3-9 and finished 8th in the Big East.
