Gary Andersen to Wisconsin: Coaching staff reportedly included if deal gets done

If Andersen takes the job, it looks like his whole coaching staff will be making the cross country trip with him.

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

Utah State Aggies football coach Gary Andersen interviewed with the Wisconsin Badgers on Tuesday, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

After saying he would remain with the Aggies, Wisconsin has reportedly made Andersen an offer. If he accepts it, he is expected to take the entire coaching staff with him.

Two of his coaches have already turned down job offers. Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda declined a job with Texas Tech and offensive coordinator Matt Wells turned down North Carolina State.

Andersen has been a hot commodity among coaches targeted by larger-profile football programs. He led the Aggies to their first 11-win season and their first bowl victory since 1994. He also was a field goal away from defeating Wisconsin earlier this year.

Three weeks ago, Andersen signed an extension to stay with Utah State through 2018, saying, “At the end of the day, Logan is where we need to be.” Now, it is looking like that might not be the case for him, or for any of the rest of his coaching staff.
