This game was originally supposed to feature the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and their rival Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. But depending on who you ask, the Bulldogs either refused to play in the bowl with the Warhawks or they were waiting for another bowl bid to come, but when one didn't come through, the Independence Bowl had already moved on. Instead, it's the Ohio Bobcats making the trip south.
How to watch Independence Bowl online, TV schedule, radio and more
Both teams, Ohio and Louisiana-Monroe, will be making their first appearance in the Independence Bowl.

The Bobcats won seven straight to begin the year and cracked the BCS Top 25 before dropping four of their last five games with their only win in that span coming over the Eastern Michigan Eagles. The Bobcats' main offensive threat is running back Beau Blankenship, who ran for 1,500 yards this season, hitting pay dirt 11 times.
For the Warhawks, their losses came in bunches, including a loss to the Auburn Tigers and Baylor Bears at the beginning of the season and Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns and Arkansas St. Red Wolves near the end of the year. The Warhawks favor working through the air with quarterback Kolton Browning, who threw for 2,830 yards and 27 touchdowns this season.
