The Texas Tech Red Raiders watched one coach depart and a familiar name come back to Lubbock this offseason. After Tommy Tuberville's departure to the Cincinnati Bearcats, the Texas Tech hired their former quarterback Kliff Kingsbury to be their new head coach. His first task will be to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Meineke Car Care of Texas Bowl. Minnesota won just two of their final eight games while Texas Tech dropped four of their last five.

The Red Raiders will likely be attacking the Golden Gophers through the air. They average 361.9 passing yards per game, good for second in the NCAA.
