2012 Independence Bowl final score: Ohio routs Louisiana-Monroe, 45-14

The Bobcats came into the game as the underdogs, but they asserted control of the contest early and cruised to an easy win over the Warhawks.

The Ohio Bobcats rolled past Louisiana-Monroe in the 2012 Independence Bowl Friday afternoon for an easy, 45-14 victory, the second straight bowl win for Frank Solich's Bobcats.

Ohio finished the day with more than 500 yards of total offense; Tettleton threw for more than 300 yards, and Blankenship had a 100-yard rushing day. Those two helped the Bobcats set some new Independence Bowl records:

The Warhawks, on the other hand, were limited to 319 total yards, and quarterback Kolton Browning threw three interceptions.

The Bobcats got off to a fast start, as quarterback Tyler Tettleton connected on a pair of touchdown passes in the first six minutes to give his team a 14-0 lead. The Warhawks responded with a touchdown to cut that lead in half, but that would be as close as they could get. Ohio took a 24-7 lead into halftime.

Ohio picked up where it left off after the break -- running back Beau Blankenship scored two touchdowns to extend the Bobcats’ lead to 38-7 with more than nine minutes to play in the third quarter. From there, Ohio was able to salt away the victory, as ULM was not able to mount a rally.
