Montee Ball injury: Wisconsin RB will play vs. Nebraska

Though he left last week's game with UTEP after suffering a head injury, Wisconsin tailback Montee Ball is reportedly set to play on Saturday against Nebraska, according to Evan Flood of 247 Sports.

Ball’s scary injury against the Miners marked his second concussion over just the last two months, a scenario that brought his short-term status into immediate question heading into Week 5. Despite not being cleared until Wednesday to begin practicing by team doctors, the 5’11 senior does not appear to be feeling any ill effects from the injury and looks be ready to contribute as usual against the Huskers.

With the Badgers sputtering offensively as of late, Ball’s role as a workhorse back should become even more important now that his team is kicking off Big Ten play. After churning out 1,923 yards on 6.3 yards per attempt last season, the talented runner is all the way down to 3.9 yards per rush in 2012 as defenses continue to stack the box against him. Nebraska was already carved up for 344 yards on the ground by UCLA in Week 2 however, so Ball may just have every opportunity for a big game this Saturday.
